You wait all year for fixtures to finally get the green light, and when they do...the weather cancels them!

A very frustrating week for the LP sport teams this week, as many fixtures were cancelled due to the wet weather. However, a few fixtures did manage to go ahead.

Football

Jeremy Belas, looking to discover his inner Tim Green, took the first football fixture of the season with the year 12s travelling to Sherfield. Both teams were rusty on there comeback to football however there were a few standout performances from players such as Oscar Cooke , James Pringle and Finley Heppelthwaite, leading us to the 1-0 win due to a clever bit of skill by Pratush Prasad on the left wing, followed by a precise finish from man of the match Oscar.

Netball

On Wednesday the first netball senior girls played Holyport. The 2nd team narrowly lost in their match, losing 13-9. There was different fortunes for the 1st team, who got off to a flying start. Tiger Goslar and Bisi Adeniji were rock solid in defence, making it extremely hard for the Holyport attacking players to get into any sort of shooting position. Tabby Tinniswood and Ellie Pearson were linking up well, providing excellent service to Izzy James and Emma Waterer who both put in an excellent shooting display. LP went on to win 26-9.

Cricket

The U13 A girls squad travelled to Crosfields on Wednesday where they fielded first and bowled superbly well. Captain Cali, fast bowler Savannah and seamer Jessy led the attack with two excellent catches from wicket keeper Maja. Despite some excellent batting from Livi they lost by 30 runs chasing a score of 281. Livi and Savannah voted players of the match.

The U12 A played on the adjacent pitch against Crosfields U13C. Again, some accurate bowling especially from Kit and superb fielding from Ava Meads stopping boundaries, Ava McNeil running batters out and Romy taking a sharp catch as keeper kept Crosfields in sight scoring 310. Despite some excellent batting from Romy LP fell short reaching 281. Players of the match Romy and Kit, excellent captaincy from Alice.
